A Prayer in the Dark and the Dreath'myrr Record

Ruchi Vael'kyn

Ruchi had saved every drop of her clerical essence to release it in a single, desperate prayer. On her knees, with her forehead pressed against the scorching stone, she chanted the sacred words. Des Mani, An Ex Por. Beside her, Zynrae wove the arcane spells of her Faern magic, crying out In Ex Grav to bind the Balor in place. They knew destroying such an abomination was impossible here, but their hope was to slow it down. Only the sacret temple, the Arach-Tinilith itself might hold enough favor to empower two darkelves for such a feat.

Once they had staggered across the bridge of fire, Ruchi paused. Feeling her strength waning and her memory beginning to flicker, she drafted a hurried letter:

I have charted the path to Dreath'myrr for your eyes, my Valsharess, guided by the stone itself. I found the way not with my eyes, but by following the growing warmth against my naked feet, tracking the trail of heat until my soles felt like embers. This map records that searing descent, marking where the stone led me through the sulfur and across the Lake of Fire to the very threshold of the abyss. There, you will find Dreath'myrr...

She was forced to stop as the earth began to shudder. The Balor had started moving again, and there was nothing left to do but run.
